Eden Prairie Backyard Retreat

This Eden Prairie deck project started with a plan to attach the deck directly to the house, but during preparation we discovered that the brick exterior was hollow, making it unsafe to install a ledger board. To ensure long-term strength and safety, we pivoted the design and built a fully freestanding 26×16 deck using pressure-treated 2x10s for the framing and DP-50 diamond pier footings for a solid foundation. This flexible approach allowed us to deliver the project without compromising on quality or durability.

The deck features two convenient staircases — one leading to the backyard and another connecting to the concrete side path — offering great flow and accessibility. Throughout the project, we had some lively company from the homeowners’ dogs, who kept an eye (and a bark!) on the crew as we worked. In the end, the homeowners were thrilled with their new outdoor space, and we were proud to turn challenges into craftsmanship they can enjoy for years to come.
